DAD’S DAY DONE RIGHT

Tips To Make Sure Your Guy Feels Special This Year

don’t know how it’s possible, but my little one just turned a whole 1 year old in April! A year that yielded more joy and purpose than I could ever put into words. Reflecting on the year behind us, I’ve realized part of that joy stems from having a front row seat to my husband fully embracing his newest role: Dad. And with Father’s Day coming up, I wanted to plan something extra significant to celebrate all the moments the first year of fatherhood brought him and how he gracefully and courageously conquered each one. So if you’re joining me in honoring a certain special guy this year, check out a few of my ideas to ensure Dad’s Day is as truly meaningful as he is!

⊲ Another coffee mug? More silly socks? Gift cards galore? We’ve all been there… you have no idea what to buy for that person who doesn't really need anything and already seems to have everything (ahem, Dad). But, you know what he does need? A subscription. And no, I’m not referring to one of the multiple streaming services you already have. I’m referring to something a little more curated to the individually awesome and uniquely amazing father in your life. Something he will not only enjoy and appreciate, but something that will extend beyond June 18th and provide a continued delight for months to come. Here are a few of my favorite subscription offers for inspo:

MasterClass: MasterClass offers an annual subscription that gives unlimited access to their wealth of classes. With topics ranging from food and business to sports and music, this is the perfect opportunity to encourage Dad to delve into a new hobby by learning from some of the world’s leaders in that industry.

Meat Delivery:

Dads and grilling just go together, amirite? Consider a subscription like ButcherBox that will source high-quality cuts of meat and seafood, package up your personalized selection, and ship it directly to your front door.

Grooming Kits:

For the bearded men in your life, look no further than a subscription like Harry’s or The Beard Club that will send you a box full of grooming supplies and hair products. Dad will secretly grow excited to try a variety of goodies, while also being relieved it’s one less thing he has to remember to add to the shopping list.

Gather Around The Grill

⊲ It’s only inevitable that many families (including my own) will end up spending this warm, summer day gathered around the grill. Which, if he’s anything like my husband or father-inlaw, that’s exactly where he’ll want to be anyways! We’re huge fans of the classicsburgers and hot dogs, steaks, and pulled pork if you’re the low and slow smoking type. But if you’re searching for something a little different this year, I recommend chicken kabobs. Flavorful bites of chicken combined with an assortment of vibrant veggies creates a beautiful and tasty spread.

PRO TIP: If using wooden skewers, soak in water for 10 minutes to prevent the wood from splitting.

Ingredients

- 1 pound of raw, boneless chicken breasts

- ¼ cup soy sauce

- ¼ cup maple syrup

- 1 tablespoon

Sriracha sauce

- Fresh produce of your choice: onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, pineapples, etc.

- Skewers

Directions

1. Cut chicken into 1-inch square cubes.

2. In a ziplock bag, mix together the soy sauce, maple syrup and Sriracha. Add chicken to the bag and massage the marinade into the chicken. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

3. Prepare your produce by cutting each item into 1-inch square pieces.

4. Assemble the kabobs and grill until the chicken is cooked through.

5. Enjoy with Dad!

Plan An Outing As Rad As Dad

⊲ You’ve got the ultimate gift secured and the menu is set. What’s next? Quality time with Dad! Center the day around him by choosing an activity specific to his interests. Try to think of something that he might not get to indulge in often, or even a new venture he wants to explore. Then, take it a step further by surprising him! Maybe it’s forcing him into the car and savoring the anticipation until arrival. Perhaps it begins with a scavenger hunt guided by the kiddos that leads Dad around the house to gather the essentials he needs to pack. However you decide to unpack the day, involving the family and showing Dad you care will ensure it’s both impactful and unforgettable!

Happy Father’s Day!
