STANLEY’S WINTERFEST The cure for cabin fever by Lori Williams

Stanley’s winters demand hardy souls. Come February, either you’ve jumped ship or been shaped and forged by the beast that it is. When you’ve made it through to the other side of long nights, sub-zero temperatures, seized engine blocks, and road closures by avalanches, you might be stronger and more resilient but also a little wacky. Enter Winterfest—a community celebration when winter in the central Idaho mountains turns the corner to see the light of longer days. From February 16 through 18, Stanley will throw down their 15th annual wildly wacky and fun weekend to kick against winter, gather for fellowship, laughter, and merriment, and celebrate old traditions. The family-friendly event, which happens every President’s Day weekend, is all about snow, thrills, and keeping it weird, and is a sure-fire cure for cabin fever. The fun starts Friday night with a kick-off beach party at Mountain Village Resort’s Velvet Falls Dance Hall. All the weekend events are opportunities to dress up, and beach attire starts the craziness with prizes for the best. DJ music ramps it up to dance off the winter doldrums and get rowdy and ready for Saturday’s eclectic extravaganza. 100
