CMU hosts 1st Mindanao Social Business Summit

Mambajao reports high civil registry turn over MAMBAJAO, Camiguin – The local civil registry here reports an increase in documents submitted for registration following the conduct of various programs and activities designed to reach its clients down to the barangays. In efforts to encourage more constituents to register, the local government brings it civil registry services at their doors

through the conduct of mobile registration which brings an 11.52 percent increase last year for birth certificates alone. Among the target clients for the mobile registration are the senior citizens and person with disabilities (PWDs). Municipal Civil Registrar Officer, Editha B. Moosreiner said most of the services extended are

birth certificate reconstruction through late registration for documents destroyed during Jap an e s e o c c up at i on , volcanic eruptions and destruction by termites. The latest available data/documents for birth certificate are those born in the year 1954 to date. Other civil registrar issuances include marriage certificate, death

certificate, marriage license, certificate of foreign national pensioner and other related certification requests. MALAYBALAY CIT Y, Bukidnon — Central Mindanao University (CMU) will host the 1st Mindanao Social Business Summit (SBS) on June 4-6, 2014 at the Farmers’ Training Center, CMU, Musuan, Maramag, Bukidnon. Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Ermedio J. Abang said the convenors will call together social innovators, entrepreneurs, prospective investors, and various interested groups to contribute, share, or gain ideas relative to the achievement of economic growth pertaining to social enterprise development. Anchored on the theme “Wealth Creation with Justice and Peace through Social Entrepreneurship,” the summit meeting aims to advocate for partnership among stakeholders emphasizing the need for a holistic support mechanism towards inclusive growth to reduce poverty. The Summit will also put heads together to manifest vital resolves concerning peace and development issues in Mindanao, as

well as its implications for social entrepreneurships, and to generate commitments towards the establishment of a Social Enterprise Institute (SEI) in CMU as a mentoring hub for Mindanao. Organized by CMU and Gawad Kalinga, the students, professors, social entrepreneurs, and professionals from other countries will also be participating in the three-day event. Invited social entrepreneur champions to speak in the Summit are Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV; Gawad Kalinga (GK) founder Tony Meloto; GK Executive Director LuisOquiñena; Nobel Prize awardee Nicanor Perlas; and Economist-columnist Ceilito Habito. Social entrepreneur czars Dylan Wilk, Fabien Courteille, Fr.
