ADVERTISER’S CORNER BY KRISTIAN NIELSEN A Year in Review Dear readers, Before we celebrate the hotly anticipated rise of 2016, please allow me to share a few milestones we barely registered during our mad dash into the new year – In 2015, SubTel Forum was visited by its devoted readers over 10 million times and an average of about 800,000 times per month. That’s roughly 20% more than 2014! By the numbers, every single SubTel publication saw an increase last year – our single most downloaded product was the May edition of the Submarine Cable Almanac, downloaded 572,000 times. We introduced the Industry Supplement this
year, which saw a limited run of four issues targeted at highlighting elements of the industry for laymen and industry outsiders. Last year gave us one of the biggest changes to our publication line-ups – a partnership with Telegeography that enhanced our Industry Report in ways that, frankly, we had never imagined. When we originally created the Industry Report, we sought to create a light document that could give an overview of the industry. Four years later, the document is one of our core publications and is now supported by a dedicated team of analysts in a new project that we’re calling STF Analytics. While the crystal ball is always cloudy, I can say with
absolute certainty that we will maintain the level of analysis, opinion, and reporting that you, our readers, have come to expect. In 2016, we will grow the scope of that analysis with STF Analytics and our news room. Keep a keen eye on us, 2016 is a big, big year! Ever loyally yours,
Kristian Nielsen literally grew up in the business since his first ‘romp’ on a BTM cableship in Southampton at age 5. He has been with Submarine Telecoms Forum for a little over 6 years; he is the originator of many products, such as the Submarine Cable Map, STF Today Live Video Stream, and the STF Cable Database.
