ROCHDALE'S FEATHERED FRIENDS By popular demand, the live Peregrine Falcon webcam is back, live streaming Rochdale's feathered friends from the magnificently restored Grade 1 listed Rochdale Town Hall. Peregrine falcons have been nesting outside the clock tower at Rochdale Town Hall since 2008 and have returned to the clock tower following a temporary relocation during the restoration work on the Town Hall. Peregrine falcons are the world's fastest living creatures, reaching speeds of up to 240mph! It's estimated that there are up to 1500 breeding pairs across the UK. BORO BEES Founded by Mark Harris and Sharon Alfrey in August 2023, Boro Bees is a new project on Blackstone Edge. Mark who owns AAA Pest Control in Littleborough has safely relocated many bee nests over the years but has always held the dream of becoming a beekeeper and developing a bee garden for all to enjoy. Mark commented: "The end goal of project is for the community of Littleborough to benefit by coming to visit and learn about Honey bees. We will look to hold open days with beekeepers and environmental experts. We also plan to sell the honey our bees produce that is surplus to their requirements and donate any profit to local charities. "There is a lot of work still to do to transform the land and we welcome any volunteers to come and get involved". Follow Boro Bees on Facebook for the latest updates.
