NONPROFIT NEWS Angels Among Us Reschedules Perfectly Paired Wine Event to June 7

Wear Yellow Nebraska Prepares for 17th Annual Wear Yellow Ride, Run, & Walk

Angels Among Us has rescheduled their third annual wine tasting event, Perfectly Paired, to June 7, due to changing health and safety circumstances in the community. Angels Among Us has partnered with Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar for this event, and the wine tasting will take place at the Fleming’s location at 140 Regency Pkwy. The event, formerly known as Uncorked, has been revamped and rebranded for 2020. This year there will be wine stations with nearly 50 different wines. As a perfect complement to the wines, chef partner Rafael Ponce has curated a selection of food pairings. A small silent auction will be available for bidding, and wine will be available for purchase at a discount. Only 150 tickets are available, so those wanting to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets soon. Last year the event quickly sold out. Angels Among Us is a Nebraska nonprofit that provides financial and emotional support to families whose children are battling pediatric cancer. Any family living in or being treated in Nebraska is eligible to apply for financial support. In 2019, Angels Among Us provided financial support to over 120 families, giving over $440,000 helping with mortgages, rent, and other expenses. For more information about events or to get involved, contact Aly Theilen at alyssa@myangelsamongus.org.

Wear Yellow Nebraska will be hosting their 17th annual Wear Yellow Ride, Run, & Walk on Saturday, May 9, at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland. Registration before May 1 is $40 and $45 after. You can register online until midnight on Sunday, May 3. The t-shirt cutoff is April 24 at 5 p.m., so be sure to register early! Each registration provides two rides to a fellow Nebraskan in the fight against cancer who does not have adequate transportation to and from their treatments. There will be a variety of routes for participants to take. For those craving roads, there will be 25-, 35-, 45-, and 55-mile options. For those who like less formal roads, there will be a 27-mile beginners gravel option as well as a 56-mile experienced gravel riders route. Those on two legs can participate in the approximate 5K Run & Walk through beautiful Mahoney State Park. Additionally, there will be a variety of events taking place after the event. Riders and walkers/runners are encouraged to stick around after the race for breakfast by the Pancake Man, Wear Yellow’s Legendary Raffle, and dozens of door prizes. Each paid registration will also be given free access to the museum following the race. Nonparticipants can also enjoy breakfast for $5. If you would like to participate in Wear Yellow Nebraska’s Wear Yellow Ride, Run, & Walk, register online at www.supportwyn.org/17.
