Guadalmina is one of the oldest golf clubs in Spain, and the first course built in Marbella. Its origins in the 1950s date to an era when prominent members of the Spanish aristocracy were first starting to discover the glamorous potential of Marbella and what was to become the Puerto Banús marina, just a short walk along the promenade from Guadalmina. Six decades later, the Guadalmina urbanisation remains a highly coveted residential area for the crème de la crème of Spanish cultural, business and political society.

The Guadalmina South course was designed by Spain’s most celebrated golf course architect, Javier Arana, and opened in 1959, while Guadalmina North was inaugurated in 1973. The club has hosted two Spanish Women’s Opens – the first, in 2017, won by local-born Guadalmina honorary member and global star Azahara Muñoz – and today it is a socially active melting pot of more than 2,000 members representing 20 different nationalities.
