Volunteer Impact Report Alumni donate time and talent to strengthen the St. Kate’s community We cannot thank you, our volunteers, enough for donating your time and talent to the University. In 2019–2020, Alumni Relations reimagined the alumni volunteer program, welcoming more volunteers into reinvigorated opportunities that proved to be rewarding to both the volunteer and the St. Kate’s community. For some, volunteering is simply a way to give back to their alma mater for what they received. “For me St. Kate’s was more than a university. It was a community that believed in me and supported me in every aspect,” says Dulce Ocampo ’18. “It feels good to know that my volunteer time is going to a good cause and creating positive long-term change for others.” For others, like Mary Giannini ’90, it is an opportunity to direct energy toward supporting a younger Katie

who is on a similar path. “During my first The Reflective Woman (TRW) interview session, the student and I realized we were both transfer students, from low income families, entering a private college, and at first felt that many of the students who attended were in a different social class than we were and were somehow ‘better.’ I hope that sharing my experiences helped her to feel more confident about herself and be proud of who she is and where she comes from.”
