Roll up, roll up, to the 137th Annual Tenterfield Show to be held this weekend 7th and 8th February. It’s set to be another big show with loads of local exhibitors and feature events to look out for over the weekend. Points of interest in the program on Friday night include the “Full Tilt Jousting Show”. Other points of interest are the Ride on Lawn Mower races Friday 7pm. Main ring, winner get 4 cartons of beer (only rules are no blades in the mowers). Whip Cracking contest Friday, at the rodeo area. $2.00 entry fee under 12’s and under 17’s. Great prizes to be won. Young Auctioneer’s Competition, Friday 4pm in the prime cattle area. Back Track Boys are coming back with their dog jumping competition on Friday 6.30pm. On Saturday, the Ute Show is back at 5pm. Chainsaw races and post ripping are back - 11am Performance from local performing groups all day Saturday. With pony rides, clowns and more rides ...there’s something for everyone. It seems that our friend Sherlock didn’t really die and we learn in the first episode how he pulled off this deception - and it’s pretty clever but you wouldn’t expect anything less from two of the smartest writers in television. Series three, which has been screening to huge numbers in the UK, picks up two years after Sherlock’s “death” and while Sherlock has been hiding, his London world has been going on
without him. His old friend has moved on and now has a new girlfriend played by Freeman’s real-life partner Amanda Abington. Amazingly Abington has received a lot of negative comments (and even reports of death threats) from fans who were eager to see Holmes and Watson ride off into the sunset or who believed it was stunt casting which is a real shame as Abington is an accomplished actress in her own right.
And if you are wondering, her credits include After Your Gone and Married Single Other among a long list of acting achievements. But I digress - Sherlock needs his old friend’s help when his brother Mycroft (Mark Gatiss) investigates an underground terrorist network planning an attack somewhere in London.
