I am a very explorative artist, landscape is my passion but I am now exploring abstract in order to feed my paintings of the lands around me. Abstract breaks down invisible barriers allowing more freedom for expression.

What to expect: Visitors are walking into a working studio, workin-progress, sketches, paint, chalks everywhere, an exciting space. In a small gallery on the right, paintings, hung and displayed well. I love to chat and explain my work and processes. All very relaxed and friendly.

Recommendation: Mossburn Animal Centre at Hightae.

Directions: From Dumfries A709 to Lochmaben, B7020 towards Dalton after 1.5 miles, signs for Art Hut right after small bridge. From Annan, A75, B7020 through Dalton, left after Mossburn Animal Centre.

Accessibility: Single track road with passing places on hill up to studio. Gravel underfoot on arrival and ramp into studio.

I am interested in plants, people and wildlife and their connection to places. Observing, listening and developing a reciprocal relationship with a plant and its environment creates a story/journey or vision. Paintings are complete when the image begins to dance and show its spirit.

What to expect: My artwork will be a collection of framed and unframed botanical watercolour paintings, graphite and coloured pencil drawings, Giclee prints and greetings cards of the paintings. Some art materials, botanical books and sketchbooks or journals will be available to view.
