Frisco Highline Trail (35 miles) Starting in Springfield at Kearney Street and Eldon Road, this 35-mile Rail-to-Trail project connects Springfield to Bolivar with a crushed gravel surface. Eight miles of the trail from Springfield to Willard are paved as well as three miles on the Bolivar end. Designated as a National Recreation Trail.

This 5-mile trail now connects to South Creek Greenway via Tal’s Trailhead at 3351 S. Kaufman Road! This trail is a beautiful mix of woods and active pasture. It travels through the popular Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, which is also a primary trailhead.

There are currently two sections of this trail: one mile in Shadowood Subdivision, from Twin Oaks Substation to the Library Center on South Campbell Avenue (goes under Campbell Avenue), and nearly two miles from Wanda Gray School to Rivercut Golf Course.

From National Avenue and Sunset Street this greenway has eight miles of paved trail connecting numerous attractions, including Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. Designated as a National Recreation Trail.

Sac River Mountain Bike Trail (8 miles) Look for the trailhead off Missouri 13, three miles north of Interstate 44. This moderately rugged natural-surface trail is popular with mountain bikers and hikers. It is not handicapped accessible. Trail users need to have good directional skills in a remote wooded setting.

Not for hiking and biking, but for canoeing and kayaking! A 6-mile route on the James River from Joe Crighton Access to Lake Springfield marina. Canoes and kayaks can be rented spring to fall at Lake Springfield Park, North Shore Access. 417-891-1550.

This greenway has almost six miles of paved trail and connects through quaint Galloway Village and to the Springfield Conservation Nature Center. It is designated as a National Recreation Trail.

Fulbright Spring Greenway (3 miles) Lost Hill Park Trailhead is on Grant Avenue, north of Hillcrest High School. Three sections are open: 1-mile section connecting on the east side of Ritter Springs Park going east under Missouri 13 to Farm Road 141 at David C. Murray Trailhead; the 1.5-mile section from Lost Hill to Truman Elementary School; and a 1/4-mile section at Valley Water Mill Park.
