Mortgage Burning Litany

Leader: Our help is in the Name of the Lord, who has made heaven and earth. We praise God on this day for the gifts given to us and the blessing to use our gifts to remove a portion of debt, God does all things well.

People: And God shall supply all our needs.

Leader: The hand of the Lord has been upon us and has prospered us, so that we have been enabled to see what we can accomplish in the days and years to come. We therefore pause to joyfully transform this portion of indebtedness into the incense of humble gratitude.

People: Nothing is impossible with God.

Leader: We give thanks to those who have gone before us in this place, those who have become a part of the great cloud of witnesses, those who faithfully prayed, gave, and worked, so that life in Jesus Christ might continue here from one generation to another. We thank God for those past and present who had a mind to serve and give.

People: And God shall supply all our needs.

Leader: We praise God for the generosity of members, families, and friends, for the service of ministries and leaders of our congregation, and for those who bowed before God and called St. Paul’s by name.

People: Nothing is impossible with God.

Leader: Lord, God we pray for Your continued guidance in all of our labors for You; for the wisdom and knowledge that can ONLY come from You, for Your Spirit of unity and harmony in our midst, so that people may be drawn to the Savior through our ministry together within these walls and beyond.

ALL: Today symbolizes and confirms that we are a church with Limitless Possibilities. And now, we commit ourselves to finishing the work and removing the remaining debt. We dedicate ourselves anew to the support of our church and to the growth and expansion of the Kingdom of God. We burn this portion of our mortgage, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
