Mark 5:21-24; 35-36 NRSV

21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea. 22 Then one of the leaders of the synagogue, named Jairus, came and, when he saw him, fell at his feet 23 and pleaded with him repeatedly, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” 24 So he went with him. 35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the synagogue leader, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

The St. Paul's Baptist Church Strategic Planning Team is proud to be a part of a church that is steadfast in its commitment to share the good news about Jesus Christ in what we do and say. A number of factors, including evolving technology, declining religiosity among Black Americans, shifting demographics, and the COVID-19 pandemic has left churches, including St. Paul's, with an immediate challenge of how to remain stable while becoming a more relevant religious entity that attracts, disciples, and serves communities in the 21st century.

The Strategic Planning Team has been charged with leading the effort to create a five-year strategic plan that gives the church a roadmap for addressing these challenges and doing ministry in the 21st century. Strategic planning allows the church to evaluate and improve its ministries, and to operate with excellence. You are the central part of the strategic planning process! In the coming weeks, you will receive a survey about your experiences and perspectives. We need to hear from you to make informed and effective recommendations about St. Paul's future.
