MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES MASTER’S PROGRAM
GRADUATE PROGRAM MS IN MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES Our small class sizes allow students to receive one-on-one attention from professors, all of whom are faculty members of the renowned Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and leaders in their fields of research.
LEARN TO INNOVATE Flexible and tailored to your specific needs, this program prepares you to succeed in the application of advanced mathematics in industry and academia. Currently ranked #12 in the world by the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects in mathematics by ShanghaiRanking, New York University offers you the highest-quality education. You will be mentored in an interdisciplinary curriculum with a focus on subjects such as convex geometric and applied real-time analysis, and application of partial differential equations to mathematical physics. Our graduates pursue a wide range of careers, from software design and biostatistics to industrial engineering, across a spectrum of firms and government agencies. Required courses include, but are not limited to, Linear Algebra I and II, and Intro to Math Analysis I and II. Remaining credits may be fulfilled by completing one of two tracks: Thesis Option, comprised of 12 elective credits and a six-credit master’s thesis. Examination Option, comprised of 18 elective credits, possibly with up to nine from approved sub-specialties in other departments. It includes a comprehensive oral examination based on your specific program of study.
