MARIO ROCHA (Ensemble, u/s Kevin, Piragua Guy, Fight Captain) Having just appeared as Diego in Ameríca Tropical here at La Mirada Theatre, Mario is proud to honor his father and the hard work and sacrifices all parents make for their children as Kevin and Piragua. Mario has appeared in over 120 film and TV projects, has sung around the world, and is an accomplished SAG stuntman most recently “dying” on “Lucifer,” “Mayans MC,” and “Seal Team.” Mario’s greatest inspiration is his son, through whom he gets to see the world anew and compels him to follow his hopes and dreams as an artist of empathy and playful storyteller.
JACQUELIN LORRAINE SCHOFIELD (Abuela Claudia) is a proud Afro-Latina from Brooklyn, NY, USAF Veteran, member of the Actor’s Equity Association, and a very gifted home chef. She is an Ovation Award and NAACP Theater Award winner. TRISTAN TURNER (Ensemble, u/s Usnavi, Benny) is an MFA graduate from UC Irvine and is making his first appearance with La Mirada. In recent years, he worked with New Swan Shakespeare Festival, Utah Shakespeare Festival and Chautauqua Theatre Company before graduating in 2020. Past credits include Sebastian in Twelfth Night, Judah in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Martin in Seminar, and he recently made his first television appearance on the CW show “All American.” He extends his heartfelt thanks to you for your support. LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA (Music & Lyrics) is a Pulitzer Prize, Grammy, Emmy and Tony awardwinning songwriter, actor and director. He is the creator and original star of Broadway’s Tony-winning Hamilton and In the Heights. His additional Broadway credits include Freestyle Love Supreme (2020 Special Tony Award recipient, co-founder, guest star), Bring It On: The Musical (co-composer/co-lyricist, Tony nomination for Best Musical), and West Side Story (2009 revival, Spanish translations). Miranda is the recipient of the 2015 MacArthur Foundation Award, the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors and the 2019 Portrait of a Nation Prize. He received an Emmy Award with Tom Kitt for their song “Bigger” from the 67th Annual Tony Awards. Mr. Miranda and The Miranda Family actively support initiatives that increase the representation of people of color throughout the arts and government, ensure access to women’s reproductive health, and promote resilience in Puerto Rico.
