M

arc Anthony is credited with saying, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Sioux Falls resident Kristie Moore is an example of that statement. Her passion for dance motivated her to share it with others as she says, “I love dance, and I love the opportunities teaching provides. I am blessed to be able to share with students the art and beauty of dance. Getting to know them personally, as dancers, and as individuals is a joy. Challenging them to do their best while also having fun is our goal, and I am humbled to be able to encourage them in a way that extends beyond dance.” Teaching dance is an adventure that Moore feels is entirely worth the effort. After opening her first dance studio in Onida and a second location in Pierre, followed by a few relocations, the ambitious woman spent seven years at home caring for her five daughters while completing an MPA. Moore also enjoyed various professional work experiences that, combined with her life experiences, helped prepare her to operate her studios. She explains, “I feel better than ever about teaching young and teenage girls, creating a special place, and managing all aspects of operating a dance studio.” This year, Moore opened Artistry Dance at 2912 E. Jackson Street in Sioux Falls. Offering quality instruction to beginning and advanced students ages 3 through adult, the studio features classes for ballet, pre-ballet (for preschool students), pointe, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary/lyrical, hip hop, liturgical, Irish, and adaptive (for students with Down Syndrome). The goal is to provide an exceptional experience; as Moore comments, “In all classes, student numbers will be limited to ensure every dancer has the space to move and instructors have the opportunity to give every dancer the individual attention required for correction and growth.” Numerous class options are offered at a variety of times to accommodate skill levels and schedule needs, and Artistry Dance will also establish a competitive program for students seeking challenging choreography, group camaraderie, and the
