Shawn Rana is an experienced professional with 36 years of experience overseeing large-scale projects in the energy and chemical industries, with a focus on hydrogen and ammonia. He has a consistent history of exceeding financial targets while helping companies achieve sustainable growth. He is among the few in the industry to have led major hydrogen and ammonia developments and managed the most extensive ammonia facilities in the United States. Shawn is recognized for maintaining strong industry relationships and encouraging collaboration to meet shared goals. His work spans traditional, blue, and green hydrogen, as well as ammonia and related derivatives. He was part of a group that unified two nitric acid organizations into a single, ongoing industry conference. He led the first greenfield ammonia and urea project in the U.S. in 25 years and the first ammonia facility in Nebraska since the 1970s. Since 1998, Shawn has supported science education by organizing career days for students. He continues to contribute to STEM engagement efforts in Nebraska. Shawn's professional background includes project execution, plant operations, and engineering. He has overseen key areas of development, including technology selection, power agreements, off-take strategies, marketing, EPC contracts, and construction. His four most recent projects, ranging from $100 million to $3 billion, include green and blue ammonia and hydrogen facilities, all of which have been completed and are fully operational. As Project Director, he helped launch a green hydrogen and ammonia facility, completing feasibility work, permitting, energy procurement, and financial planning. The project included a construction workforce of 400 and a combined cost of nearly $400 million. As President of a Nebraska-based company, he initiated and led a $100 million greenfield ammonia project.
