Visitors (bottom center of photo) are dwarfed by Maquoketa Caves State Park’s largest cavern, Dancehall Cave, a nearly 1,100-foot-long cave with three entrances and a walkway system that was constructed as part of the Civilian Conservations Corps and Works Progress Administration programs during The Great Depression. The cave gets its name from a large cavern off the lower entrance where dances were once held. CODY CUTTER/CCUTTER@SAUKVALLEY.COM
