LOS ANGELES – There’s another departure in store for “The Daily Show.” Jason Jones will leave the Comedy Central series after nearly a decade to star in and produce a new TBS sitcom that was announced Tuesday. Earlier this month, “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart said he will leave sometime this year. Samantha Bee, Jones’ wife and fellow “Daily Show” correspondent, will remain with the satirical news show, Comedy Central said in confirming Jones’ exit. But Bee will join her husband as an executive producer on the TBS sitcom about a family on the road.

‘American Horror Story’ actor Woolf dies after accident LOS ANGELES – Ben Woolf, an actor on “American Horror Story,” has died after being injured in a street accident, a spokesman said. He was 34. Woolf died Monday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, publicist Zack Teperman said. Woolf’s family was at his side. The 4-foot-4 actor was hospitalized in critical condition after he was hit by the side mirror of a passing vehicle on an LA-area street. The motorist, who stopped at the scene Thursday night, wasn’t cited or arrested. Woolf was a cast member on the FX show in its first season, in 2011, when he played a character called the Infantata. In the latest installment, “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” he appeared as Meep. “He was a tremendous professional and an incredibly kind person, beloved by the ‘American Horror Story’ family,” FX and the show’s producers said in a statement. Members of Woolf’s family said in a statement that they were overwhelmed by the love and support they’ve received for him. Teperman, his publicist, called Woolf “one-of-a-kind,” a caring and hardworking man.

It wasn’t immediately clear if investigators were looking for other suspects. Police said the stabbing occurred outside a bar after the victims argued with a man inside.
UNION BEACH, N.J. – Rocker and philanthropist Jon Bon Jovi is sponsoring a community restaurant in a Jersey shore community still struggling mightily to recover from Superstorm Sandy. Through his Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, he’s providing financial backing to Spoon Full of Hope. The church project began serving meals in January in a firehouse in Union Beach, New Jersey, near his childhood home of Sayreville. It lost its funding last summer. Patrons can either pay a minimum donation or give an hour of time to earn a dining certificate for the volunteer and four family members. Bon Jovi said the project gives hope to people still rebuilding their lives.
Taylor Swift gives $50,000 in song proceeds to NYC schools NEW YORK – New York City’s official booster Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to the city’s public schools. The city tourism bureau tapped Swift as “global welcome ambassador” last year even though critics noted she was a recent transplant to New York. Some also complained her song “Welcome to New York” from the album “1989” was bland and lifeless. Swift responded by announcing last October she would donate proceeds from the single to the city’s schools. A spokeswoman for the city Department of Education said Tuesday that Swift has now given $50,000. Spokeswoman Devora Kaye said the department is “deeply appreciative of this kind gesture.” A publicist for Swift said the singer will continue to donate additional proceeds she receives from the single “Welcome to New York” to the city’s schools.
ESPN’s Olbermann out for week after Penn State comments BRISTOL, Conn.– Keith Olbermann was taken off his ESPN show for the rest of the week after making insulting comments about Penn State students on Twitter. On Monday, a Penn State alum tweeted to Olbermann the phrase “We Are!” and a link to an article about students raising more than $13 million to fight pediatric cancer. Olbermann replied “... Pitiful.” Olbermann, who often spars with commenters on Twitter, then refused to back down in several more tweets, saying he was referring to Penn State students in general and not the fundraising. “It was completely inappropriate and does not reflect the views of ESPN,” the network said in a statement Tuesday.
