AVILA Born: June 8, 1978; in Harvard, IL Died: Oct. 9, 2014; in Woodstock, IL Jessica Marie Avila, age 36, of Woodstock, died Thursday, October 9, 2014, at her home. She was born June 8, 1978, in Harvard, IL to Joseph and Lindy (Davis) Ehardt. On April 5, 2006, she married Martin Avila in Woodstock. Jessica attended Woodstock High School and was a member of The Church of Holy Apostles in McHenry. She worked for a time after high school, before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Raising her family was her greatest joy. A loving mother and wife, Jessica will be remembered as a thoughtful and kind-hearted person who was always “all about family”. Survivors include her husband, Martin; five children, Petra, Martin Jr., Juan, America, and Jesse; her father, Joseph Ehardt of Poplar Grove; a sister, Melissa Ehardt; two brothers, Joseph (Tabitha) Ehardt and Zebulon Austin; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alberto and Maria Avila. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lindy. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014, at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry, IL 60050. Visitation will resume from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry, with the funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Woodstock. DAVID W. COLE Born: July 28, 1943; in Chicago, IL Died: Oct. 10, 2014; in McHenry, IL David W. Cole, 71, of Woodstock, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014, at Centegra Hospital in McHenry surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 28, 1943, in Chicago to Ervin and Carolyn Kurth Cole. He married Margaret C. Dethloff on June 13, 1987, at Camp Napowan in Wild Rose, WI. David was a veteran having served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an active leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 153 for over 50 years. He was also active with the Illinois Railway Museum in Union. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and the Woodstock Snowmobile Club. He loved old Farmall Tractors and Dodge Trucks. He also loved the outdoors and going camping. David played Santa Claus on the Woodstock Square for many years. He loved

working with children; especially his grandchildren and his nieces. They were the joy of his life and he always supported them in all their activities. David is survived by his loving wife, Margaret C. “Marge” Cole; three step-sons, Mike (Marianne) Patenaude, Jeff (Cathy) Patenaude, and Dan (Julie) Patenaude; five grandchildren, Michaela, Gianna, Madison, Cade, and Cole; two sisters, Ellen (Mike) Gezella, and Connie (Fred) Dyba; a brother, Bruce Cole; four nieces, Megann, Elizabeth, Amy and Nina; and a nephew, Adam. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave. in Woodstock with a funeral service held at 7:00 p.m. All other services will be private. Shane Michael Farel, 40, of Pecatonica died Friday, October 10, 2014, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born May 19, 1974, in Anaheim, California; the son of Norman and Cheryl (Huss) Farel. Shane was a machinist for World Class Tool Co. of Rockford. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching football and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his fiancée, Barb Hinde, Pecatonica; three children, Xandra, Mark and Crystal; parents,

Rita Gallagher, age 60, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Woodstock, IL, died peacefully on October 8th. Rita enjoyed life to the fullest, giving a smile and friendly introduction, “Hi, I’m Rita” to everyone she met. She blessed us all with her love, sense of humor, optimism, and courage. Rita was kind and compassionate to all

and amazed all who received her unforgettable wisdom. Rita loved to sing and dance, jump rope, go bowling, watch romantic comedies, win prizes at any event, enjoy a good meal. She competed in the Special Olympics for many years. Rita especially loved celebrating her birthday with her family each year. She was a lifelong Cubs fan. Rita graduated from SEDOM in Woodstock, enjoyed working with her friends at the Pioneer Center in McHenry for more than 25 years, and continued working in Chicago. In 2002, Rita was welcomed into the SPRED faith community (special religious development) in Chicago and has been a good friend to many at the SPRED Center on Lowe Avenue. Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and James Gallagher; her sister, Elaine; and her brother, Jim. She is survived by her siblings, Maureen, Susanne, S.P., Joe (Jeanne), Kathleen, Margaret Gallagher-Smythe (Bill), Judee, Gail Johnston, John (Peg), Mark (Anne), Lorette Nuzzo (Don), and Mike; as well as 17 nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 12 at the Archdiocese of Chicago SPRED Chapel, 2959 S. Lowe, Chicago, IL.

The funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 13 at 10:00 am followed by the burial at Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock, IL. Born: Sept. 27, 1943 Died: Oct. 9, 2014 Frank “Old Guide” Paul Egger, Sr., 71, of Lake In The Hills, died peacefully after a long 7 year battle with cancer on October 9, 2014. He was born in Chicago, on September 27, 1943, at Edgewater Hospital. He was the son of late Carl (Charlie) and Anna Egger. He is survived by his wonderful wife, Dee; his wonderful children, Shelly & Aaron Poling Sr., Frank Egger Jr., Dorie Rasmusen (Ron), Evie Kerr & Wayne Berry, Rich & Barb Kerr; his two brothers, Chuck, Rich; and sister, Nancy. He also is survived by his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank Sr. was known as the “Old Guide” for his expertise in the sport of fishing. He spent a lot of his time up at his cabin in beautiful Eagle River, WI with his family & friends. There was not one fish that the “Old Guide” couldn’t handle! He loved sitting in his boat with his shirt off and soaking in the sun rays, while drinking a nice cold one! He also loved betting on the ponies. He was a very smart man when getting ready to place that bet. The “Old Guide” would often venture off with the “Young Guide” to throw them bets down on the ponies and casino hop. He was also a big fan of the Green Bay Packers. He loved watching them beat the Chicago Bears throughout the years. He loved sitting there and yelling out his favorite play “Run em’ Deep!” He was a really hard worker too. Throughout the years, Frank worked at Toastmaster, L & V Distributors, Dura Death and finally at Union Special. Visitations will be held at Willow Funeral Home (1415 W Algonquin Rd, Algonquin, IL) on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, between 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
