BOOSTING YOUTH SOCCER SKILLS AND THE COMMUNITY

s summer and the new school year approaches, parents
Aseek out fun activities to keep their children engaged and their energy levels sustained. If you are considering soccer as an option, Strikers Fox Valley Soccer Club can help develop your child’s love for the sport both on and off the field. The organization is proud of the positive transformation they developed throughout 2020; if you are considering soccer in your child’s future, you’ll definitely want to become part of their movement. Strikers has been serving the community for over 30 years and offers a massive 50,000 square foot club house and indoor training facility. Their dedicated staff help facilitate 53 teams from U-8 to U-23. Strikers Fox Valley Soccer Club President Pat Feulner explains their philosophy “One Community, One Club” starts with the basics; taking a player from the beginning stages of their development on the field all the way through their high school or college play. Club programs are fluidly designed to focus on the growth of each player to help them succeed each step of the way. Beyond the field, the club has dedicated themselves to the betterment of the community by focusing on giving back. Feulner recalls how in 2020 they launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to help “deliver meals and necessities to first responders, nursing homes and shelters all over the Tri-Cities area.” Strikers is committed to connecting their players to service projects within the community to promote character growth and lasting interpersonal skills that will truly help develop each club member beyond the field. If an injury should occur, parents can take comfort knowing Strikers has developed a valued partnership with Fox Valley Orthopedics. FVO provides a head team physician and a list of other sports doctors for patients to choose from at their facility. New this fall, the Recreational Development League is a perfect way to introduce the sport to your child. The league is open to children ages 4-9, will last for eight weeks, and will run from September 7 through the end of October. Each week, the league will have one training session and one game on Saturday; a perfect option for busy families. As your children begin to show interest in sports and extracurricular activities this coming year, consider introducing them to a program that is designed to lift them up, make it possible to forge lasting friendships, and help instill a healthy competitive nature in athletics.
