In June 2022, the couple took a trip to Ohio to celebrate his son’s 18th birthday. Michael took Vanessa by surprise when he popped the question at their quaint bedand-breakfast. The couple will tie the knot on Aug. 6, 2023, at The Barn at Woodlake Meadows in Bear Creek. They say the event will be “quite the family reunion” with guests traveling from up and down the East Coast, as well as from abroad. CM

hatham County native and Northwood High School graduate Vanessa Moreland met Michael Fox in 2015 while standing in line at a Starbucks in Cary. Vanessa recalls how natural the conversation felt, which led to the couple exchanging numbers. “Michael strikes up a conversation with just about anyone, and that day it happened to be me,” she says.
