She finally realized what was happening as they approached the beach decorated in candles and rose petals. Afterward, their friends and family were excited to greet them at the real event, their engagement party. The couple will be married at the Brooklyn Arts Center in Wilmington on Sept. 2, 2023. CHM

ere acquaintances at Jordan High School, it wasn’t until spring 2015 that Bailey Perry and Scott Upchurch ended up at the same party and were reintroduced by a mutual friend, kindling their hometown romance. After a few years of long-distance dating, Bailey joined Scott in Wilmington, North Carolina, shortly upon graduating from Meredith College in 2018. “Our spark was ignited, and we have been inseparable ever since,” Bailey says. With the help of Bailey’s mother, Steffen Perry, and her future bridesmaids, Scott was able to surprise
