Program Notes One Night in Athens - On a recent trip to Athens, the composer spent one night going to a restaurant that featured both fine food and folk dancing. Fold dance in Greece is a tradition dating back as far as the time of Plato and Aristotle. There are over 4,000 known traditional dances that come from all the islands and surrounding mainland areas. The composer has tried to capture the joy, spirit, and excitement of Greek music being played during One Night in Athens. Whispers From Beyond - This composition was composed in memory of the writer’s friend Cheryl WilliamsJaenecke. This piece is not a mournful tribute, but a joyous representation of her life. The work has two main themes that ebb and flow as the music progresses. Beautiful melodies and rich orchestration lead this musical creation to a full, yet delicate conclusion.
