YOUR PAYPOINT Just pop in and pay the easy way. With your PAYEASY card, you can top-up your natural gas supply wherever you see a PayPoint sign. Make regular payments quickly and securely at local outlets such as corner shops, convenience stores, petrol stations, even the Credit Union (see list on reverse of this leaflet). HOW PAYEASY WORKS You will be supplied with a PAYEASY card registered to your Pay As You Go meter as soon as it is installed at your property. It’s then simply a matter of bringing your PAYEASY card to any PayPoint outlet together with your chosen payment (minimum purchase £5). You will receive a receipt which you should keep until this credit has been transferred to your meter. CREDIT TO METER Simply insert your PAYEASY card into the slot in your meter (gold chip first) for about 5 seconds until you hear a bleep. Check the display screen to ensure the new credit has been accepted. NO CREDIT LEFT If you have no credit on your meter, the display will show ‘c’ (closed) or ‘no credit’ with the word ‘OFF’ flashing.
GAS SWITCHING OFF Your gas supply will automatically switch off when your credit reaches 15 units (unless you have released the credit reserve). The display will show ‘c’ with the word ‘OFF’ flashing, or ‘OFF’. If this happens: Make sure your gas appliances are all switched off. Remove your PAYEASY card if you keep it in the meter. Insert the PAYEASY card in the meter again. Press and hold the black button ‘B’ for about 5 seconds until a beep sounds or the display reads ‘Let’s go’ or ‘Release B’.
Release the black button ‘B’. Your supply will come back on after about 30 seconds and the display will change from ‘c’ to ‘o’ or ‘OFF’ to ‘ON’. If it doesn’t, remove the card, wait a minute, re-insert the card. USING YOUR CREDIT RESERVE If your credit is between 15-30 units, avoid your gas supply cutting out by releasing your ‘credit reserve’ facility. The display will be showing ‘o’ or ‘Reserve avail’ with the number of units you still have left and the word ‘Lo’ flashing or ‘Low’. Note: You are now using your limited reserve facility and need to purchase more gas as soon as possible. REPLACEMENT CARDS You can purchase a replacement PAYEASY card from any PayPoint outlet. This card must be activated in your meter before purchasing new credit. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS Press the red button ‘A’ to review your remaining credit. You don’t need to press any button to transfer credit from your PAYEASY card to your meter. Simply insert card into the slot/gold chip first for about 5 seconds until you hear a beep.
The red button ‘A’ is also used to release your ‘Credit Reserve’. The black button ‘B’ is only used to switch the gas supply back on. A flashing ‘c’ or ‘OFF’ means your gas supply has switched off. Don’t worry, just access your ‘Credit Reserve’ until you purchase new credit. ‘0’ with ‘RES’ flashing means you are using your ‘Credit Reserve’. Purchase more credit as soon as possible to keep your gas supply running. If you leave your PAYEASY card in the meter for more than a minute, remove it and re-insert before following any of the above instructions. Remember to keep your PAYEASY card in a safe place and bring it with you to purchase new credit at your local PayPoint outlet (check opening hours). If you smell gas or are worried about gas safety or carbon monoxide, call the Northern Ireland Gas Emergency Service number immediately on 0800 002 001
Error Codes for your prepayment meter. Code 01 Card not valid Try clearing the error by inserting your Payeasy card gold chip facing down. If this doesn’t work, you will need to contact your gas supplier. Code 02 Supplier code incorrect This code will appear if you use a different natural gas supplier’s card to that currently registered to the meter. A new card for your gas supplier of choice can be bought at most shops with a Payeasy symbol. Once you have your new Payeasy card you will need to register it to the meter before purchasing any top ups. Code 03 Credit expired Credit lasts for 6 months on the card. If you have credit left on the card for longer than this period, please contact your gas supplier.
Code 04 Meter credit full You can store a maximum volume of 1800m3 of natural gas on your meter. As you burn gas, the volume will reduce enabling you to top-up your credit again. Code 05 Communication failed with meter You will need to contact your gas supplier. Code 06 Communication failed with the card This usually means the card is not registered. If you have registered the card then it may simply be that the gold chip needs cleaned with a soft cloth or eraser. If cleaning doesn’t fix the issue you will need a new card and these can be purchased from most shops with a Payeasy symbol. If your new card still doesn’t work then you will need to contact your gas supplier. Code 07 Low battery You will need to contact your gas supplier. Code 08 Operation error This indicates that the operation is not possible, this can occur when transferring credit from your top-up card to your meter. Please follow the instructions ‘credit to meter’ on this leaflet to ensure you are topping up your credit correctly. If the fault code persists please contact your gas supplier. Code 09 Indicates there is a system fault You will need to contact your gas supplier.
