SS Prinzessin Victoria Luise, ca. 1901–1906. She was the first ship designed as what we now call a cruise ship—not intended for regularly scheduled ocean crossings, but leisurely cruises in the Mediterranean and elsewhere. The collection contains, of course, many pictures of the great ocean liners.

A close look reveals a crewmember dangling from a boom off the starboard bow of Alabama, perhaps to board the tender just below.
