Morris Prize Article award as for ''Annus Mirabilis to The Ancient Mariner: Oceanic Environments and the Romantic Literary Imagination." The $1,000 prize is named for the lace director of the G.W. Blunt White Library at Mystic Seaport, who established the contest in 1980 to encourage research and publication in American maritime history, which has since been expanded to include international maritime studies. Each year, the winning article is selected from submissions co CORIOLIS: the Interdisciplinary journal of Maritime Studies. Dewey recently received his PhD in English literature from Cornell University; his dissertation is tided, "Transatlantic Romanticism and Maritime Studies."
