"THE STOBART STORE"

8101809'8 the Midwest's Premier Marine Art Gallery Call Ted Gardner (513) 891-5531 The Cleveland Main Light flashes a friendly welcome, on a summer evening 55 years ago welcoming the Goodtime on her return from Cedar Point. "Port of Cleveland" is Iowa native Michael Blaser's first Great Lakes painting. After six years of depicting the inland waterways and steamboats of the Mi ssissippi, Monogahala, and Ohio rivers, painting the Great Lakes is tonic to Blaser:" . .. a secret desire of mine ever since I worked my way through college at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. " The steamers Joliet and William J. Mather are shown middle and right of the painting, respectively. The 1925 Mather , the only surviving example of a straight deck bulk and iron one carrier left on the Lakes, is now being meticulous ly restored by the Great Lakes Hi storical Society in Vermilion, Ohio, and print sales of "Port of Cleveland," will benefit this sterling effort. They may be ordered signed and numbered, orremarqued, signed and numbered , from the Society at 480 Main Street, Vermilion OH 44089; 216 967-3467. For information about Blaser' s other prints contact Waterway Fine Arts , PO Box 915, Bettendorf IA 52722; 800 383-0669.
