gr am, which was one of 10 pr oposed in ear ly 2022. City College is the second campus in the San Diego Community College Distr ict that will offer a four-year degr ee. Mesa College has offer ed a bachelor ?s degr ee in Health I nfor mation Management since 2015. I nfor mation, Networ k and Technology pr ofessor David Kennemer said City?s pr ogr am will have a ver y specific focus tied to specific unmet wor kfor ce needs in San Diego. Kennemer told City Times last year, ?and all this emer ging technology, and focus on the defensive side, and how you can actively defend in r eal-time.? Gonzales said, ?because what we should r eally be building out is a pipeline for all of our students just to have options. ?Now the wor k is about integr ating them so that our students can benefit, not just offer a new option but to offer it in a way that expedites their completion and that allows them to r each their next destination.?

For those inter ested in impr oving their health, a gym is an excellent place to develop their physical str ength and conditioning with help fr om a per sonal tr ainer. For City College students eager to impr ove their math, science and foreign language skills, the Tutorial/L ear ning Center, staffed by peer tutor s, is an available r esour ce. ?Come her e on a r egular basis to build up your (academic) muscle,? Soukhaseum said. L ocated on the second floor of the L building, the Tutor ial/L ear ning Center cur r ently offer s walk- in tutor ing in 16 differ ent subject ar eas, including math, languages, communication and the sciences. Once ther e, students can par tner with a peer tutor and r eceive suppor t in one or mor e subjects at a time at any point in the semester. That was the case for City College student Mar ie Castillo just after spr ing br eak.

L ar ios tutor s in math and physics. ?We don?t want to pr oject the message that when you str uggle, you come in,? Soukhaseum said. ?We want you to be pr oactive.? Available walk- in tutor ing gener ally lasts one hour. Sessions can also be split into two half- hour sessions if necessar y. For a schedule of tutor ing available on a walk-in basis, a schedule is available online. For students looking for wor k as a peer tutor, paid positions ar e also available at the Tutor ial/L ear ning Center. The application can be found at the Tutor ial/L ear ning Center and applications can be submitted to Soukhaseum in per son. Ther e is a vetting pr ocess and students who ar e appr oved by faculty in the subject ar ea can apply as a peer tutor. Ther e ar e also other tutor ing opportunities available thr ough the Tutorial/L ear ning Center including vir tual tutor ing, r esour ces thr ough Canvas and additional etutor ing ser vices.
