The Weddell Sea and Antarctic Circle In February and March when the ice has started to break, there may be opportunities to venture further to the east coast of the Peninsula into the Weddell Sea, whose waters boast tabular icebergs and are alive with seals, penguins and whales. If conditions are favourable, follow in the footsteps of early explorers and cross the Antarctic Circle at latitude 66°33’ South.
