This biennial event serves to recognise innovative leaders and promote a spirit of innovation. Singapore SME Infocomm Adoption Committee The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) invited the Chamber to nominate a representative to join the SME Infocomm Adoption Committee. The Chamber’s Technology Chairman Stephen Lim agreed to be part of the committee. The main objective of this committee is to recommend strategies and initiatives to encourage infocomm adoption by SMEs. The members also advise on possible collaborations between public and private sectors to encourage infocomm adoption by SMEs.

SIRC@SCCCI Events Social Media Readiness Assessment With the increasing popularity of the use of social media, SIRC@ SCCCI organised a Social Media Readiness Workshop on February 8 to help SMEs and SCCCI members determine whether they are ready to explore social media strategy and evaluate their readiness. The workshop was conducted at the Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business with 30 participants. The workshop was also conducted on March 13, April 17, July 4 and on August 24 at the 15th Infocomm Commerce Conference. A total of 300 participants attended the sessions. “Are you LinkedIn” Hands-on Workshop On February 15, SIRC@SCCCI organised the hands-on workshop to teach SMEs about B2B networking using LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a complimentary Internet platform for business development. “Know More” Sessions on IT Productivity Grants, IT Contracts & SIRC@SCCCI On February 16, the session was held to help SMEs and SCCCI members better understand how they could tap on government grants and assistance programmes to help improve business productivity. The seminar also showed participants how IT could be used to solve business challenges and have a better understanding of IT contract guidelines.

“Social Media for B2B Business” Workshop The workshop was conducted on March 29 and June 28 to introduce how successful and effective social media campaigns could create opportunities for business development. “Simple DIY E-commerce for SMEs” Workshop SIRC@SCCCI organised the workshop on April 18-19 and July 25-26 to teach SMEs how to build e-commerce platforms. Participants also learnt about effective methods to run businesses online as well as building and marketing web stores. “Facebook & Twitter Workshop: The Practical Approach to Maximum Customer Outreach” Workshop SIRC@SCCCI organised the workshop on May 23 and June 19 to teach businesses how to use Facebook and Twitter effectively and efficiently to create, brand and market products and services.

Other Seminars/Workshops “Accounting Made Easy” Seminar Jointly organised by SIRC@SCCCI and Kingdee International Software Group (Singapore) Pte Ltd on March 20, the session aimed to help SMEs gain awareness of the latest capabilities in accounting technology as well as GST related matters. 30 participants attended the session. “Learn Instant Efficiency around Microsoft Office 2010” Workshop Jointly organised by Microsoft and SIRC@SCCCI, experts from Microsoft shared with 50 participants how to effectively use Microsoft Office 2010 to achieve greater efficiency on their daily work processing documents. “Print Access Management – Make Every Page Count” Seminar On April 12, SIRC@SCCCI and Argentra organised the session to explore the common pitfalls arising from failure to manage printing within a company. A total of 20 participants attended the seminar.

The seminar was also conducted on March 15, April 16, May 16, October 23 and November 9. The sessions were attended by a total of 85 participants.

“Using Advanced One Stop Solution to give your Business a New Impetus” Workshop in Mandarin On May 24, SIRC@SCCCI and SingTel conducted a hands-on session for 12 participants on how SaaS-based solutions could help to maximise SMEs’ business productivity.

“Social Media for Retail Business” Workshop Workshops were held on March 28 and June 20 to help SMEs in the retail industry learn how to leverage on successful social media campaigns to expand their businesses.

“Manage your Online Business Effortlessly” Workshop On June 14, SIRC@SCCCI and SingTel organised a workshop for 21 participants to provide hands-on experience to manage the outlook, content and functionality of their online business.
