COSY, MODERN AND WITH A GREAT DEAL OF HISTORY Romantic Hotel Alte Posthalterei, in the rural town of Zusmarshausen near Augsburg, is as romantic as it gets. For many centuries, hospitality has played a major role in the listed building, and even historical figures like Napoleon and Marie Antoinette once took a welcomed break here. Modern comfort merges with centuries of tradition at the sophisticated Romantic Hotel Alte Posthalterei (which translates to ‘Old Coaching Inn’) in Zusmarshausen. Nestled right in the wonderful nature woodland ‘Westliche Wälder’, the hotel first welcomed guests in 1648. During the 18th/19th centuries, the coaching inn was located along the only postal route between Vienna and Paris, which explains the volume of international visitors. In the spring of 1770, the future Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, stayed here during her journey, and in 1805, Napoleon was a guest. 48

HISTORY MEETS MODERN HOTEL CONCEPT Just like back in the day, the hotel pampers its guests like royals – but with a modern twist. When Manuela and Marc Schumacher took over, they first renovated and refurbished the listed building for four years, following strict official requirements. The result is a gem of a hotel with top-quality seminar and event spaces as well as two renowned restaurants for 50 and 100 guests. From a romantic getaway to a business trip or events such as weddings and conferences – the Alte Posthalterei has got you covered.
Guests can choose from different room categories, which all have their unique charm. Among the 66 rooms are an apartment with a kitchenette, two Prince’s rooms, eight Royal rooms, 45 Post Officer’s rooms and ten Coach Driver’s rooms.
