Situated in the ‘Parco Ciani’, overlooking the shores of Lake Lugano, Villa Ciani is a unique event location. The neoclassical Villa Ciani itself was built between 1840 and 1843 by the Milanese brothers Giacomo and Filippo Ciani. “While living in Milan, the Ciani brothers were afraid of being arrested on charges of participating in the riots against the Austrian occupation of the city, so in 1822 they left, and after touring Europe settled permanently in Lugano,” says sales and marketing manager Luca Grassi. decided to build a villa on the foundations of the ancient castle of the Dukes of Milan. The villa today spreads over three floors. All 30 rooms, in various sizes, are air conditioned and accessible via lift, and also connected to a WiFi network, making the location also ideal for seminars, conferences and product releases in a special environment. Featuring a collection of sculptures, paintings and frescoes on ceilings and walls, the villa is additionally a sought-after location for photoshoots. Connected to the villa via an internal passage lies the city’s Congress Centre, with space for larger gatherings and trade fairs. Close to the
city centre, the lake, the three Bellinzona medieval castles, the house of writer Hermann Hesse, art museums and various Grotti, typical family-owned restaurants, conference attendees can experience a great variety of activities in their spare time or as part of the conference programme.
