The Lenzerheide cross-country ski network has a length of 56 kilometres in total and was named one of the best cross-country ski areas in Switzerland. The trails have various levels of difficulty. The race trail La Pala, for example, is ideal for cross-country ski experts and requires a good fitness level and technical abilities. Other trails for more experienced cross-country skiers can be found all over the area and include gradients of a few metres’ altitude. Night owls, on the other hand, will enjoy the late hours in the biathlon arena Lenzerheide in Lantsch/ Lenz, every evening from 5pm to 9pm. The holiday region combines exercise with a whole lot of fun and has created a fictional Nordic expert, Sven Johanson 74 | Issue 81 | December 2019
from Norway, who sets challenges for biathlon and cross-country ski enthusiasts. At certain points on the trail, participants will have to pass interactive challenges: what they include, will only be revealed once they have arrived at the spot. The surprise is part of the fun, after all (arosalenzerheide.swiss/sven).
– with a 100 per cent snow guarantee in winter. 225 well-prepared kilometres of slopes offer the ideal conditions for downhill skiing – for both beginners and professionals, and from wide to rather steep slopes.
In the valley and the hills, visitors will also find routes for snowshoe hiking. Walking through wintery forests and untouched nature, hikers will experience tranquillity far away from the hustle and bustle of the ski slopes, so that they can enjoy the mountains in all their beauty without any disturbance.
Lenzerheide is well-known as a location for high-class sporting events: On 28 and 29 December, it is the venue for the Coop FIS Tour de Ski, with a mass start and a sprint race. The event combines sports and culture, and the opening ceremony is held in the Zauberwald Lenzerheide. From 23 January to 2 February 2020, Lenzerheide then hosts the IBU youth championship in biathlon, where national and international young talents compete in 16 competitions. Lenzerheide therefore offers not only a great variety of activities for sports enthusiasts, but also the opportunity to watch the experts do it professionally, and to cheer them on.
