A walk through the history Ein Spaziergang durch die of the Reformation Reformationsgeschichte Since 2005, the International Museum of the Reformation (MIR) in Geneva has exhibited unique works dedicated to the history of Protestantism in the world and its role in shaping the history of Geneva. Enter a world of wonder and awe.
Seit 2005 zeigt das Internationale Museum der Reformation (MIR) in Genf einzigartige Werke zur Geschichte des globalen Protestantismus und dessen Rolle in der Genfer Geschichte. Willkommen in einer Welt voller Wunder und Staunen.
In 1536, the Reformation was adopted via show of hands by the citizens of Geneva in the cloister of St Peter’s Cathedral. Today, this is where you will find the 18th-century historical building that houses the MIR and its unique collection of more than 600 works: from original writings by Jean Calvin or Martin Luther, to portraits of Lucas Cranach and letters from the kings of France.
Im Jahr 1536 wurde die Reformation durch Handzeichen der Genfer Bürger im Kloster der St. Peters Kathedrale angenommen. Heute findet man dort das Gebäude aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, welches nun das MIR und seine einzigartige Sammlung von über 600 Werken beherbergt. Von originalen Schriftstücken von Jean Calvin oder Martin Luther bis hin zu Portraits von Lucas Cranach und Briefen der Könige Frankreichs.
Visitors will find themselves submerged in the daily life of Calvin, learning about the role of printing in making the Reformation successful and wondering at exceptional Bibles from the 16th-century. In 2019, from 25 January to 19 May, visitors can enjoy installations by artist Serge Bloch and writer Frédéric Boyer, which include films, frescoes and a host of small drawings representing stories from the Old Testament. The museum looks forward to welcoming you!
Besucher können in das tägliche Leben von Calvin eintauchen, herausfinden welche Rolle Drucken für eine erfolgreiche Reformation spielte und außergewöhnliche Bibeln des 16. Jahrunderts bestaunen. Vom 25. Januar bis zum 19. Mai 2019 dürfen sich die Besucher auf Installationen von Künstler Serge Bloch und Schriftsteller Frédéric Boyer freuen. Die Ausstellung beinhaltet Filme, Fresken und eine Reihe von Zeichnungen zu Geschichten des Alten Testaments.
