Located in the heart of Paderborn, visitors are offered a unique journey through time. The Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) is not just a computer museum but a vibrant hotspot for information technology and extracurricular education. "Visitors experience 5,000 years of the history of information technology, from the first characters in Mesopotamia in 3,000 BC to the digital age," Dr Wiltrud Viehoff, head of marketing at HNF, says. "Tours and workshops are available for young and old, for school classes and families."
Im Herzen von Paderborn erwartet die Besucher eine einzigartige Reise durch die Zeit. Das Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) ist nicht einfach nur ein Computermuseum, sondern ein überaus lebendiges Zentrum der Informationstechnik und außerschulischen Bildung. „Besucher erleben 5.000 Jahre Geschichte der Informationstechnik, von den ersten Schriftzeichen in Mesopotamien 3.000 v. Chr. bis zum Digitalen Zeitalter", sagt Dr. Wiltrud Viehoff, die das Marketing des HNF leitet. „Führungen und Workshops gibt es für Jung und Alt, für Schulklassen und für Familien.“
Right when you enter, robot Paul is there to greet you, as Dr Viehoff explains: "In the foyer, Paul does his rounds, tells stories about the museum, suggests taking selfies together, and even attempts a little dance." The robots PETER and PETRA are deployed on the modern museum floors and guide visitors to selected exhibits. Kids can even play hide-and-seek with PETRA.
Begrüßt wird man gleich am Anfang von Roboter Paul, wie Dr. Viehoff erzählt: „Im Foyer zieht er seine Runden, erzählt Geschichten über das Museum, lädt zu Selfies ein und wagt sogar ein kleines Tänzchen.“ Die Roboter PETER und PETRA sind auf den modern gestalteten Museumsetagen im Einsatz und führen Besucher zu ausgewählten Exponaten. Kids können mit PETRA sogar Verstecken spielen.
Until 19 November, the special exhibition The Nemesis Machine – City. Data.Art is running. Cameras and sensors make visitors a part of the artwork by Stanza, which is controlled by thousands of data records ranging from the areas of weather, environment and traffic from across Germany.
Bis zum 19. November läuft die Sonderausstellung The Nemesis Machine – Stadt.Daten.Kunst. Über Kameras und Sensoren werden die Besucher selbst Teil des Kunstwerks von Stanza, das über Tausende Daten aus den Bereichen Wetter, Umwelt und Verkehr aus ganz Deutschland gesteuert wird.
The HNF is also a bustling event venue where events such as workshops, lectures, conferences and seminars take place. In cooperation with Paderborn University, there is the student laboratory coolMINT.
Das HNF ist außerdem pulsierender Veranstaltungsort, an dem Events wie Workshops, Vorträge, Kongresse und Seminare stattfinden. In Kooperation mit der Uni Paderborn gibt es das Schülerlabor coolMINT.
Regardless of why you pop in - the HNF is a museum for experiencing, discovering and marvelling.
