WIRSCHING 2013 Iphöfer Kalb Silvaner Auslese Franken £31.90 per bottle (0,75l) A classic Silvaner, this wine is creamy and tangy on the palate, with a fine bouquet of apricot and peach. Flavours of highly ripened fruits and an unobtrusive sweetness are combined with a delicate yet still present acidity, creating a truly unique and full-bodied wine. Silvaner is the variety that the Franken area is renowned for, and as such, this wine is presented in the region’s traditional Boxbeutel bottle. Wirsching is a certified member of FAIR'N GREEN; a recognised system for sustainable viticulture in Germany, covering areas of environmental protection and social responsibility.

BISCHEL 2016 Appenheimer Frühburgunder dry Rheinhessen £28.40 per bottle (0,75l) 52 |

Issue 105 | May 2023

This Frühburgunder delivers a gentle velvety fruit flavour with a spicy solid tannin structure on the palate. On the nose, it has animated aromas of ripe fruits of the forest; berries, cherry and cassis, as well as hints of smokey wood and leather. A long finish rounds this red wine off perfectly.

DR HEGER 2017 Ihringer Winklerberg Weissburgunder Premier Cru dry Baden £15.60 per bottle (0,375l) The complex and delicate fruit flavours of this Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) reflect Winklerberg’s volcanic soil terroir perfectly. This white wine has a subtle juicy bouquet of young yellow plums and mirabelle. Likewise, on the palate, it has day-bright aromas and hints of white apples. A fresh and very vivifying character, this white wine is cheerful and easy drinking, yet it has a fine depth and minerality in its core, as well as a refreshing finish with fine citrus notes.
