are supposed to ensure the excellent local viniculture conditions remain intact for generations to come. The targeted use of technology plays an important role in this. During the harvest, a special selection method is used, which scans every single grape.

For over 350 years, the Kirnbauer family has been living in Deutschkreutz, and for more than 40 years, they have been dedicated to the art of making premium wines at their 45-hectare estate. K+K Kirnbauer, the name of the winery, stands for the family’s strong bond, their unity and the teamwork of the different generations. Currently, the winery is run by Markus and Marlene Kirnbauer of the second generation, who are focused on sustainable farming – an aspect that has been constantly developed further over the years.

The gentle treatment also impacts the quality of the wines. “A gentle process is extremely important to us. It means that the grapes are treated with great care. This includes the multiple selection processes of the grape, the individual supervision of the fermentation and a gentle way of filling the bottles,” Markus Kirnbauer says.

Sustainability and organic agriculture are not just buzz words here – on the contrary, at K+K they are lived values. “We are proud to be the first winery in Austria to be certified for its sustainability,” vintner Markus Kirnbauer adds. In order to save resources across the board, each step of the winemaking process is thought through down to the smallest detail. From renewable energy sources and a reduced use of tractors to the complete absence of herbicides and pesticides – each step is designed carefully. This gentle approach towards nature and resources paired with a minimal CO2 footprint
