Mental Wellness Center 3rd Annual Walk/Run 8:30 AM. East Beach - Cabrillo Bath House. Show your support for those in our community living with mental health challenges by participating in the 3rd Annual 5K/10K Walk/Run for Mental Wellness. One hundred percent of the event registration fees benefit the Fellowship Club at the Mental Wellness Center, serving over 260 clients with recovery planning, a hot meal daily, education, support groups, art therapy, community wellness activities, and family services. AHA! - Attitude, Harmony, Achievement (formerly Academy of Healing Arts for Teens) Sing It Out! 5:30 PM. Deckers Outdoor Corporation. After-school group Sing It Out! moves 13 nonmusician teens through an incredible journey that ends with them singing their hearts open in front of a crowd of hundreds of friends, family, and community members, backed by local favorites Tina Schlieske and her band. In the process of learning to sing and wow the crowd, these teens develop social and emotional intelligence, compassion, courage and conscience, and forge relationships with facilitators and teens that help them feel accepted, guided, and loved. Children’s Creative Project I Madonnari Italian St Painting 10:00 AM. Santa Barbara Old Mission. On the Memorial Day weekend, 300 artists and young people transform the Old Mission plaza with 150 colorful, large-scale St paintings. The artists (madonnari) begin drawing on Saturday and continue throughout the threeday festival. For 25,000 annual visitors, each day the festival also features live music on the Mission lawn, authentic Italian cuisine, specialty items, and a St painting area just for children. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Barbara County 4th Annual Daniel Johnson Memorial Golf Tournament Santa Maria Country Club. On October 5, 2010, Airman Daniel James Johnson was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. While stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Dan joined the Big Brother Big Sister program in Lompoc. Dan was a devoted and active Big Brother for over two years. Dan made his Little Brother a priority and spent quality time with him as much as he could. The funds raised from this golf tournament will support the Big Brother Big Sister program in his honor.

Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Take Steps for Crohn’s & Colitis 2:00 PM. Chase Palm Park. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, unpredictable diseases that attack the digestive system. The need is critical: 1 in every 200 Americans suffers with IBD, and as many as 150,000 patients are under the age of 18. The Take Steps Walk is CCFA’s largest event dedicated to finding a cure for IBD while improving the lives of patients and their families.
