HOW TO DO THE PERFECT FAUX BOB IF YOU WANT TO GO SHORTER, BUT AREN’T READY TO COMMIT TO A MAJOR CUT, STYLIST BRANDON LIBERATI, WHO CREATED THIS FAUX BOB, SAYS YOU CAN GET THIS “IT GIRL” STYLE SANS SCISSORS.
BEFORE
“THE FAUX BOB IS EASY TO DO. ALL YOU NEED ARE PINS, A BRUSH AND SOME HAIRSPRAY,” SAYS LIBERATI. TO START, ADD SOME CURLS OR WAVES TO YOUR HAIR WITH AN IRON OR WAND AND THEN SPRAY TEXTURIZING SPRAY THROUGHOUT. “THIS GIVES THE HAIR ‘GRIT’ SO YOUR BOBBY PINS WILL STAY SECURE.”

tip
To go one step further and add in bangs, use a clip-in at the top of your hair. Be sure to make a good part across your hair so that it looks believable.

STYLE AND SET
“If you love your long hair, but you’re tempted to wear a bob, you don’t have to cut your hair—just fake it,” says Liberati. First, tease your hair at the crown to get some height and volume. Next, tie your hair into a loose, low ponytail. “Now fold it under, or roll it, and pin your hair at the nape of your neck with bobby pins.”
With your hair folded under at your neck, spray it in place with hairspray, which will also smooth any flyaways at the back and on the sides. For more stubborn hairs that won’t lie flat, you can pin them with bobby pins. Pull a few longer strands of hair out, especially in the front. “This will give you more of a fresh, fashion-forward look,” says Liberati.
