Sacramento native Shaun Burner is a muralist whose work graces the walls of buildings locally and globally. Raised in a family of artists, he says that “both sides of my family are highly creative, so I have been surrounded by art and music my entire life.” Burner is the co-owner of 1810 Gallery and a founder of the collective M5 Arts, which produced Art Hotel and Art Street, immersive art experiences that showcased the work of dozens of artists. Auctioneer David Sobon has worked with hundreds of foundations, nonprofits, service and religious groups and associations around the country to help them meet their fundraising goals. He is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the National Auctioneers Association. He founded Wide Open Walls, one of the largest mural festivals in the country, and he serves on the board of directors of the Sacramento Metro Chamber Foundation. WHY I CHOSE THIS WORK My love of the arts motivated me to create a nonprofit with a goal of art for all. BEST ADVICE RECEIVED Do what makes you happy. Jason Silva is a partner and design principal at Dreyfuss + Blackford Architecture, where he frequently incorporates technological advances into his designs and fabrications. Operating since 1950, Dreyfuss + Blackford has offices in Sacramento and San Francisco. In 2015, Silva was appointed to the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. The Sacramento native also serves as vice president of communications and public affairs for the American Institute of Architects, California Council. A national lecturer on environmental and technological innovations, Silva previously served as creative director for TEDx Sacramento. In 2017, Silva and colleague Ginger Thompson created a 1,200-square-foot art piece for ArtStreet. EDUCATION Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Virginia Tech

Lynda Jolley and her business partner, Beth Jones, launched their contemporary art gallery, JAYJAY, in 2000. The gallery’s stable includes about 20 of the region’s most respected artists. Before opening JAYJAY, Jolley was owner and director of the alternative gallery Big Art from 1992 to 2000. She has lectured at the Crocker Art Museum and served on the boards of directors for the Center for Contemporary Art and Uptown Arts. WHY I CHOSE THIS WORK It was a passion that turned into a career. Artist, curator, writer and arts administrator Liv Moe founded and runs Verge Center for the Arts, a contemporary art center and artist residency. She maintains an active studio practice and has shown her work at the Richard L. Nelson Fine Art Collection, Sonoma Art Center and the Crocker Art Museum. Under her leadership, Verge transitioned from a commercial gallery to a nonprofit art center, merging with the Center for Contemporary Art Sacramento. EDUCATION Sacramento State University, UC Davis HIDDEN TALENT I play cello. HOBBIES The only world I’ve occupied longer than the art world is the punk scene. Remaining connected to that scene and my friends within it is how I stay sane. Artist Maren Conrad is best known for her public murals, although she also works in metal leaf and layered resin. Her first mural—a giant koi painted on the side of the MARRS building and titled Prosperity Through Perseverance—pays tribute to the Chinese workers who built the railroads. Her work is held in private collections by Dignity Health, Accenture, Kaiser Permanente and Hotel Napa, among others.
