“People may not realize that there is a lot of creativity involved in dentistry. On some levels, it’s very pragmatic and scientific, but the actual work is like carving or sculpting. It is an art. To me, seeing immediate results of my hard work gives me a great sense of accomplishment and motivates me to create more. “
The joy of changing a person`s life by giving him or her a beautiful smile cannot be measured. The satisfaction of restoring a person`s teeth so they can enjoy food again is worth more than gold. The opportunity to relieve pain and suffering is a rare privilege. I just can’t imagine doing anything other than dentistry. My patient’s appreciation of being well cared for is evident in their smiles, hugs, tears of happiness, and positive feedback. That is priceless.
What do you enjoy in life? I love to travel to remote parts of the world and learn about new countries, people and cultures. These experiences give me perspective and make me feel grateful for everything and everyone in my life. Also, I am involved in charity dental work abroad and I am a member of the International Medical Relief Program. Winston Churchill said, that “we make a living by what we get… but we make a life by what we give!” I agree with him. That is why I am always excited to travel to underdeveloped countries all over the world and provide dental services for patients who have never had dental care before. My next trip will be this summer to Rwanda and Kenya.
