Top of their Claas A GALA event held recently in Christchurch by Landpower and CLAAS Harvest Centres marked the company’s Strive Annual Excellence Awards, recognising the best performing dealerships, teams and individuals in the Australasian network. “Our goal is to make sure every Claas Harvest Centre delivers the right technology, expert knowledge and superior after sales service to help gear up farmers for success,” Landpower chief executive Richard Wilson says. Winner of the network’s best machinery

dealership award was Claas Harvest Centre Southland, Invercargill. It has played a central role in Landpower’s history, evolving from the Farmrite business established by Herby and Pam Whyte in 1979, to become the first Claas Harvest Centre in 2009. The business employs 25 staff in its Invercargill and Gore branches. Branch manager Rob Walker, a long-serving employee, attributes the success to customer service. “We are committed to providing round-the-clock service and parts support

for customers during the busy harvest period and other critical times of the year,” he says. Claas Harvest Centre Central Districts was recognised as having the best after sales service. Branch manager Paul Holdaway paid particular tribute to his workshop team led by foreman Andrew Paddock. “We are among the small branches in the Claas Harvest Centre network so this award is a big achievement for Andrew and his team,” Holdaway says. Five top-performing sales representatives won Strive Salesmen of the

Year awards. Vaughn Carson, Claas Harvest Centre Bay of Plenty, is top salesman for JCB loaders and telehandlers and Claas Greenline technology. Also winners were Greg Carr, Canterbury (Lexion); Nick Ravlich, Waikato (Jaguar); Robbie Barrowcliffe, Waikato (tractors); and Adam Clement, Canterbury (Amazone). Claas UK chief executive and regional director Trevor Tyrrell, and global export manager Elke Hoyermann were on hand to congratulate prize winners on the awards night.

DIGITAL FUTURE CLAAS HAS begun building an electronics development centre in Dissen, Germany. Work on the 5ha property will be finished next year. A core aspect of the centre will be Claas E-Systems, formed

in 2014 and now employing 150 employees developing control units, electronic architecture, terminals, camera systems, automatic satellite-guided steering systems and other gear for the

increasingly digital, networked farming. The staff are from the company’s subsidiaries in Gütersloh, Harsewinkel, Bad Saulgau, Paderborn and Denmark.

Don’t put good fertiliser on compacted soil which can’t absorb it. If your soil can’t support 15cm root growth and good worm population check for compaction. You could need aeration. In dollar terms, what would 20% production increase mean to your yearly turnover?
