Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake is an idyllic rural retreat adjacent to Smith Mountain Lake, the renowned “Jewel of the Blue Ridge Mountains.” Tucked behind Westlake Towne Center, our 25-acre campus is just a short distance away from shopping, groceries, a movie theatre, and numerous restaurants. The campus itself features a main senior living community surrounded by private, independently owned Runk & Pratt cottages. Residents of our SML community enjoy three levels of care: assisted living, independent living, and memory support.

Resting on 25 acres, Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake is a spacious, resort-style community focused on assisted living and memory support, with customizable individual cottages for independent living. This community provides residents with a comfortable private or semiprivate room or with apartmentstyle suites with kitchenette options. All rooms are spacious and airy and have their own individual heating and cooling units. Cable television and telephone services are included in the cost of care.

At Runk & Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake, we offer three types of care — independent living, assisted living, and memory support — each with varying services and amenities that cater to the unique needs of each of our seniors. Upon admission, we develop an individualized service plan with input from resident, family, and doctor. Weekly physician appointments, physical therapy sessions, and lab services are performed on-site. Highly trained nurses are staffed 24/7, providing immediate attention for emergency medical issues. Should a resident show signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s over time, we will seamlessly facilitate a transition from assisted living to memory support to ensure the resident is receiving the best possible care.

At our Smith Mountain Lake community, fulltime activities directors work with health care professionals to keep a calendar filled with events designed to engage residents in mind, body, and spirit.
