595. Preston Sturges (2) Typed Letters Signed on The Lost Weekend. Two quick TLSs signed “Preston,” both one page, 5.5 x 8.5 California Pictures Corporation letterhead, both dated to December 7, 1945. The first to director Billy Wilder: “Ten thousand congratulations to you on ‘The Lost Weekend.’ I know how you must feel. Keep up the good work.” The second is to screenwriter and producer Charles Brackett: “My heartfelt congratulations to you for the enormous success of ‘The Lost Weekend.’” In overall very good to fine condition, with paper loss along the top edges. The 1945 film The Lost Weekend was a huge commercial and critical success. Directed by Wilder, who helped adapt the screenplay with Brackett, and starring Ray Milland and Jane Wyman, the film was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four. Starting Bid $200

Highly desirable vintage fountain pen signatures of the Three Stooges on two 6 x 4.5 album pages: “Lots of Luck, Moe (Stooge) Howard, May 21, 1935” and “Best Wishes, Eddie Laughton” on opposite sides of a light green album page; and “Sincerely—Larry (Fuzzy) Fine, ‘3 Stooges’” and “Good Luck, Jerry (Curly) Howard” on opposite sides a beige album page. The card shows the 17-year old prodigy in his iconic blue Team Brazil kit and features a brief biography in Swedish on the reverse, citing his excellent World Cup play—he scored in all three of Brazil’s knockout games. One of the most sought-after and significant soccer cards ever issued, this example presents much more attractively than its technical grade.
