2021 Session Recap – A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words Chris Dawson, Attorney, GrayRobinson Law Firm In construction terms, the 2021 regular session concluded on-time and over budget. Lawmakers concluded their annual conference on April 30 and adjourned, sine die, with a special session on implementation of a renewed gaming compact looming. A session that will always be viewed through the COVID-19 lens ultimately proved to be a very effective one with lawmakers passing landmark legislation on COVID-19 liability protections, public safety, school choice, election reform and many other topics. And about that budget… With assistance of COVID-relief money approved by the federal government, Florida legislators approved the state’s first annual budget exceeding $100B. As the old saying goes “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Let’s take a visual ride through the 2021 regular session.
