MDM: What motivated you to apply for the HWNT and LIP Program, and how do you think these programs will help you achieve your educational and career goals?

ALYSSA: My mom found out about the program through a friend, She told me about it and I knew it was something I wanted to join because I wanted to start preparing myself for college and life after high school. This program will help me with my educational and career goals because this program almost feels like a big sister and I know I can always come back to any one of the mentors and ask for advice.

MDM: Can you share a specific experience or challenge you faced during high school that made you realize the importance of programs like HWNT and LIP?

ALYSSA: I tend to stress out a lot and there was one seminar inparticular that talked about mental health I still take some of the breathing techniques and other things I learned from that seminar and apply it to my everyday life.

MDM: What are you most excited to learn or gain from your participation in the LIP Program, and how do you plan to apply these lessons to your future endeavors?

ALYSSA: I’m most excited to just apply everything I’ve learned from the seminars into my future endeavors. From mental health to learning about credit and debit, to everything and anything college related. These are all things that I will come face to face with throughout life but I feel prepared because of LIP.

MDM: How do you see yourself giving back to your community or mentoring others after completing the HWNT and LIP Program?

ALYSSA: I see myself joining another chapter of LIP when I fnally go off to college, I want to be able to help other young Latina girls and give back to this program.

MDM: What advice would you give to other young Latinas who are considering applying for the HWNT and LIP Program but might feel uncertain about their chances?

ALYSSA: Apply, trust me you won’t regret it! I’ve been a part of this program since my freshman year & I’m now a senior! HWNT and LIP have honestly been a big help to me. I’ve learned so much in these past four years of being a part of this program and everyone is so welcoming!

MDM: What career path or life mission are you most passionate about, and how do you plan to make a difference in that field?

ALYSSA: I plan on studying the field of business and pursuinga career in either marketing or international business. I plan to bring more diversity and more women to a field that is mostly male prominent.

MDM: Who has been your most significant mentor, and what specific advice or lessons have they shared with you that have had a lasting impact?

ALYSSA: My mom has been my most significant mentor. She hasalways talked about the importance of education and instilled that into me since I was a little girl. She’s taught me that I can make the impossible possible as long as I work hard for it.

MDM: How has your mentor helped you navigate challenges or difficult decisions as you work toward your goals?

ALYSSA: I’ve encountered many challenges these past four years,but my mom has always guided me toward a better path.

MDM: Looking back on your journey so far, what are you most proud of, and how do you hope to inspire others through your experiences?

ALYSSA: I am most proud of my commitment to this programand watching the program grow to what it has become! I want to inspire others by sharing my experiences and guiding them towards LIP.
