Explorations of Infinite Physical Insecurities
AKOV - Quito, Ecuador
“After having suffered bulimia for 10 years, I use my experience as a trigger to cross other subjectivities and reflect on daily practices, producing artworks that start from becoming aware of the dialogues and frequent attitudes in society, which go through entire generations and cause rejection and its normalization. Productions in which the sense of modeling, plasticity, emptiness, and the power of the other are present in order to include or exclude attributes.
I have mainly explored the fields of sculpture, archive, photography and artistic objects, focusing my research on different problems that we face, which make up and build identity, addressing the body, serial production and standards of beauty, all through my body and other people's bodies, as ways to question these social conventions.”
