ALISA LAPKOVSKAYA
A Silent Selfie
Alisa Lapkovskaya Valencia, Spain
“Currently, I am exploring abstraction and the portrait genre. Colors were always my main inspiration and the language I speak. Sometimes I give them a form, other times I let them talk themselves. I like experimenting with nonconventional materials because they carry a story within. I put them in a dialogue with my paintings to split open their meaning.
In my works, I talk about my nomadic life, my practice as a young artist, and personal experiences such as the process of becoming an adult, breakup, or the perception of my body. I talk about turbulences and television interferences inside my head. My work expresses the search for questions, silence, protest.”
