LGBTQ-related events are happening all month long

October is designated as Pride Month in Atlanta, a time to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Here’s what is coming up this month:

Out on Film

The annual LGBT film festival runs Sept. 26 through Oct. 6 with events at Midtown Art Cinema, Out Front Theatre Company and the Plaza Theatre. More than 100 films, documentaries, short films and web series are on tap, including “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” “HAM: A Musical Memoir” and “Straight Up.” For the complete lineup and tickets, visit outonfilm.com.

Out in the Archives

Georgia State University Library’s will highlight Atlanta’s LGBTQ communities through the records, photographs, artifacts and oral histories preserved in the Gender and Sexuality Collections in an exhibiton running now through September 2020. An opening reception will be held Oct. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring panel discussions, exhibits and light refreshments. For information, visit library.gsu.edu.

Atlanta Pride Festival ▼

The 48th annual festival and parade will be held Oct. 11-13 at Piedmont Park and other venues around the city. The music lineup includes MAX, Michel Jons Band, Daya and Ally Brooke of 5th Harmony. The annual parade from Downtown to the park along Peachtree Street will be held Oct. 13 starting at noon. See the full schedule at alantapride.org.

The Fox Theatre’s rooftop Marquee Club will be hosting a special Atlanta Pride Parade viewing party on Oct. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. featuring Tatianna from RuPaul’s Drag Race, along with special guests Iv Fischer, Melissa Coffey, Michael Robinson, Diego Serna and Molly Rimswell. Tickets are $50 and available at foxtheatre.org.
